Return from York, Maine and into the Revolution

So I actually couldn't post while we were in York. We stayed at Inn On the Blues and the internet didn't work so this is a bit of catching up. We loved Bar Harbor!  It was so pretty there and calming.  I am just an ocean person I think.  It restores me.  I look out and watch the waves and then watch them crash into the shore or into rocks and burst up in almost a flare of fireworks.  It reminds me that I need to breathe, slow down, and relax sometimes.  I take mental pictures from the shore, looking at the rocks and thinking how over time they are etched with a story to tell.  Remembering how strong the rocks are and how powerful the ocean is.  In our audio tour they said that in the winter the surf can cross the road, this means huge huge waves.  I would love to see it someday like that.  Our hotel had a power outage early in the morning we were due to leave.  They handled it very well!  They had staff out to help guests get...

Catch up post...again...into New Hampshire on to Maine

So we left Boston and headed up towards Portsmouth.  The plan was to do laundry but the first place we stopped at had no parking available and the second and third place were closed.  So we decided to just do laundry up in Bar Harbor.  We stopped in York, ME for lunch and then we drove up to the Nubble Light House.  We decided right then that we wanted to change our stop in Portsmouth on the way back to York.  Its a cute town with lots to see and do and a nice beach area. The drive up to Bar Harbor wasn't bad, it was just a bit long and we were all tired.  We are staying at a Holiday Inn Resort and its right on the water and simply beautiful!  Overlooks Frenchman's Bay, its just so pretty here, the green grass and pretty pool area, and a walking path around it.  We did not do anything Monday!  We needed a day like that, NYC and Boston were so busy and this has been more of a down time.  I did laundry and sat outside and watched the oce...

Boston day 2

It was a busy day but a great one!  First one of my dear friends from High School was free to meet up, which is a miracle considering that I basically gave her two days notice and no idea of a time or place to meet up. We ended up meeting at the Boston Science Museum and doing a few of the exhibits there.  Let me say that while I love Science Museum Oklahoma this is hands down above and beyond most places! While they revamped the chick hatching area that used to be there it was still there so I got to see some baby chicks and you know I love that.  We also watched the lightening show they do there which is pretty impressive.  We grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to Bunker Hill.  In case you don't know, today is Bunker Hill day!  So they had a lot of people dressed up and were doing weapon demonstrations. We walked down Bunker Hill to the pier where the USS Constitution is dry docked.  I have never been on it before it was really neat.  Wan...

North Bridge/Boston

We left NYC around 1030 on Thursday.  I did even better driving out of Times Square than I did coming in!  YAY.  I will miss the city though.  I really love it there and hope to go back soon.  We drove to Concord Mass to see the North Bridge.  It is a beautiful spot and historical.  Very peaceful and calm there despite the things that occurred.  Old Manse is next to it but we did not go there since we were short on time and it wasn't on our list.  Then we did a wind around to get to the hotel, we took the back way and zigged and zagged through some pretty towns with neat houses.  Got to the hotel which is by a Friendly's!  I talked my crew into dinner there, yummy.  I have missed Friendlys!   We had a fairly early night and just settled in to the room. Today we got up and did Uber into Boston to get on the Hop on Hop off tours.  First let me say we have enjoyed it even though this morning I wasn't so sure.  We ...

No Day Shall Erase You From the Memory of Time-Virgil

What a day we have had!  I actually got my butt out of bed a bit earlier than normal, no late night last night helped me a ton.  We headed down to Battery Park to get on the Ferry over to the Statue of Liberty.  While I have done this before I enjoyed it and it was nice to be able to get out this go around and walk around her.  She is just beautiful and the detail is amazing.  We got some good pictures a stroll through the gift shop and back on the Ferry to head over to Ellis Island.  This is something I have not done before and it was very neat.  To think of all the people that came over and stopped here was overwhelming.  Saw the dorms there that they used.  Three levels of cots with two per cot.  The cots raise up during the day so that they could move about.  (Facebook will show the picture!)  The registration hall, the story of the different people that came to America...just amazing really.   Next up was the Bull...

Catching up...Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Late nights, busy days have kept me from the blog.   We have been busy and everyone doing different things at different times!  Its been incredibly hot here in NYC, like record breaking heat, which I hate.  Hoping that tonight brings in a colder weather pattern so we can continue on with a few outdoor things we want to do that we have put off. Sunday we went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  It was cute and they did a good job with it.  We sat up in the mezzanine and it was too far away for the both of us but still a good little musical.  I think the rest of the gang did some touristy type things.  Honestly I have done the tourist stuff so frequently that I mostly look forward to the musicals. Monday we did the Empire State Building, it was hot hot hot but at least we had a breeze up there.  I am not a huge fan of the height so I just kinda did a quick few pictures and looks and then went back inside.  Sophia, Kathy, and Andrea h...

You Will Be Found

So what a day!  First my good friend made her way into NYC.  We were so excited to see Dear Evan Hansen at 2pm!  We couldn't wait to see Ben Platt and the original cast!  Well that didn't quite work out the way we planned.  Apparently Ben was feeling under the weather and was put on voice rest and did not perform today.  It was pretty strange because a lot of people got phone calls to be able to cancel and get refunded.  We did not.  I am glad though because the understudy was seriously amazing in the role!  What a brilliant performance!!!!!  I can't recommend this musical highly enough.  The title comes from one of the songs. It was so powerful...remember if you are lost you will be found.  Everyone feels alone and lost reach out, talk to people.   We ate at Dos Caminos in Times Square it was amazing.  I had a yummy adult beverage and everyone enjoyed the guacamole.   We then headed to our next musicals....
