Contrast
What a day of contrasts! We started off our morning in Elizabethtown and headed into Lancaster to see some covered bridges and farm lands of the Amish. We got lucky and saw a plow being driven by horses. Then we stopped at a farm and got fresh strawberries and some homemade cookies. We then ran into a road side stand that had an amazing produce and various other items for sale that was run by an Amish family. We got bread, fruit, and a few other things. Including some really good root beer.
We then headed into NYC. Ok people, I did it. I really did it! It wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be. Not to say that it wasn't a bit stressful and that I really would like to not do that again.
We had a bit of an adventure getting our room. When I checked in the lady told me that she had one of our two rooms ready which was the 36th floor. The bellman(who will now be named Eddie...because thats his name), said that he would follow us up and to go on. I opened the door and almost fell over because the carpet was floating. Now I know that sounds weird but honestly thats the best way to describe it. It smelled, it was warm and all the windows were open with a rag holding them open. There was a large industrial fan blowing under the carpet(hence the floating carpet). The carpet was pulled up all through the room. I was going to call down to ask if maybe the room wasn't ready, even though I was thinking that it wasn't going to work for us with the smell, but decided to wait for Eddie to come with the bags. He came and we said, hey we have a little problem. He looked and said "No! You have a BIG problem! He took down the table from the couch and said, sit and rest and I will fix this. A bit later he came back and then we moved to the 25th floor. He opened the door and either someone was still staying in it or it had not been cleaned. Eddie was mortified! We were like, no big deal and waited for our next room in the hall. He came back and we moved to the 43rd floor! I really do think he tried to upgrade us, but couldn't. Instead he sent water up and gave us breakfast vouchers for a couple of days. We are totally good with that! We still have a decent view and a very nice clean big room. All is well.
I walked down to get in line for TKTS which is literally steps from the door and had tickets in hand and back up to the room in about 20 min. LOVE THAT!!!! Seriously its the best thing ever!!
We ended up seeing School of Rock. I am going to be honest. I really wanted to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight and let Sophia and Cheryl go to School of Rock. Glad that Cheryl talked me into going with them. I LOVED IT! Very impressive show and talent! Walked back through times square and into our hotel and met up with our family. Now we have Kathy, Andrea, and Jennie with us.
Its late and I am very tired but check Facebook in a bit for some pictures of our day.
