S hook for the win!


So there really isn't much to report today.  We had an awesome room at the Troy Illinois Holiday Inn and Express!  Very clean, great staff, and a big room.  I was impressed and I don't really get impressed by our basic hotels that we use for the travel days.  

We had about an 8 hour drive to make it to Cleveland Ohio for the night.  It was for the most part uneventful.  Cheryl took the morning drive and we stopped for a late lunch at a really neat place in Terra Haute called FiFi's.  Way yummy food there and great service.  Sophia took over and got us through Indianapolis.  

I took over and did the rest of the drive.  At some point we heard a weird sound and thought something was wrong with the tires but nothing popped up on our messages or even a warning light until around Columbus.  I put air in the tires and the light went off so figured it was just some fluke.  I did however double check the tires because if you know me you know that I have a knack for hitting nails, in fact they know me by my first name at Discount Tires in Yukon!  I didn't see anything.  I was worried but we tried to make it into a Toyota place in Columbus but they didn't have any appointments.  My plan became to try and get to Cleveland because we had our reservation here and we were past the cancel time and we were going to go to a dealership here.  I called ahead and they had appointments at 10:25pm!   Can you believe that?  Turns out that this place is open for service appointments until 3am!!!!   Wow.  The guy asked us a few questions then figured it was just a low pressure in the tire, but I told him I had put air in it already and he thankfully decided to put the car up on the racks and look.  It didn't seem like very long when he came and got us.  Are you ready?  

S hook!  Check Facebook for the picture!   I couldn't believe it.  For one thing, it really could have caused an issue on the road.  Second, how the heck?   Third...we would have arrived even LATER than we did at our hotel.  As it is we barely made it before parking closed.  Its late, we are all tired but we are safe!  Which is all that matters.   

In other news, this room is amazing!  I will report more tomorrow.

Boston day 2

It was a busy day but a great one!  First one of my dear friends from High School was free to meet up, which is a miracle considering that I basically gave her two days notice and no idea of a time or place to meet up. We ended up meeting at the Boston Science Museum and doing a few of the exhibits there.  Let me say that while I love Science Museum Oklahoma this is hands down above and beyond most places! While they revamped the chick hatching area that used to be there it was still there so I got to see some baby chicks and you know I love that.  We also watched the lightening show they do there which is pretty impressive.  We grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to Bunker Hill.  In case you don't know, today is Bunker Hill day!  So they had a lot of people dressed up and were doing weapon demonstrations. Return from York, Maine and into the Revolution

So I actually couldn't post while we were in York. We stayed at Inn On the Blues and the internet didn't work so this is a bit of catching up. We loved Bar Harbor!  It was so pretty there and calming.  I am just an ocean person I think.  It restores me.  I look out and watch the waves and then watch them crash into the shore or into rocks and burst up in almost a flare of fireworks.  It reminds me that I need to breathe, slow down, and relax sometimes.  I take mental pictures from the shore, looking at the rocks and thinking how over time they are etched with a story to tell.  Remembering how strong the rocks are and how powerful the ocean is.  In our audio tour they said that in the winter the surf can cross the road, this means huge huge waves.  I would love to see it someday like that.  Our hotel had a power outage early in the morning we were due to leave.  They handled it very well!  They had staff out to help guests get...

First day of travel! Welcome to our journey.

Hi everyone, This is our third big road trip!  Its hard to believe that we did this trip several years ago.  Each trip has its own personality to me.  The purpose of this trip is to make memories with Sophia!  She graduated this year from high school and soon will be starting her own journey at OSU. If you are new to our blogs, you can look back on head east with us and head west with us on blogspot!  Basically I do my best to share our days on the road and the adventures we go off on.  We also do contests!  Everyone loves a contest right?  First off you may guess the number of miles we drive for the total of the trip.  Remember today was our first day on the road and our last day is July 1st.  You may want to wait until the end of the trip to decide your guess:)  You never know what we will do while on our trips, diversions, side trips, getting lost, and who knows what else.  Then we do some other ones which we will announc...
