Zip zip zip!!!!


Greetings from Elizabethtown PA.  We are basically in the Hersey PA area.  This morning we got up and watched the Falls from our room with a view on the 19th floor.  Sophia had her Zip Line over the falls this morning.  This is something I am not sure I could ever do so I just watched her.  It looked cool.  I am glad she got to do it.  Then we went shopping and got a few things at the gift shop area.  Then we left the falls and headed back to America via the Peace Bridge, again very quick and easy experience.  

We drove to Hersey and had dinner and then went to Hersey's Chocolate World, which basically is a gigantic gift shop with a Disney like(this is a very loose term because it was nothing really Disney about it) ride.  We did the Design Your Own Chocolate Bar experience as well.  This was really neat! We got to pick the base bar, white, dark, or milk chocolate.  Then up to three toppings.  I picked butterscotch chips, toffee, and cookie bits(I think).  Cheryl picked dark chocolate and just toffee.  Sophia picked cookie bits, pretzels and sprinkles on dark chocolate.   You then watch your bar getting made.  It goes through several different areas, then gets coated in milk chocolate, cooled, then boxed and finally you get to design your own label.  They put it in a tin box and poof you have chocolate bars made personally by you!  Very fun experience and something new.  One year Cheryl and I designed our own Muppet, so its now a tradition to do something like that:)  I have done the ride a long time ago and was looking forward to it but it was very disappointing!  I miss the old song, and it just wasn't very exciting at all, granted it is free.  We got some treats, but you basically can't resist because you have just learned all about chocolate and then get a small candy bar, and then dumped into the gift shop, full of chocolate!  You get the picture...and speaking of pictures...they will be on Facebook shortly.  

Tomorrow, Amish Country, and the drive into NYC.  I am super anxious about the drive into Times Square...like really but I can do it...I can do it...I can....

Boston day 2

It was a busy day but a great one!  First one of my dear friends from High School was free to meet up, which is a miracle considering that I basically gave her two days notice and no idea of a time or place to meet up. We ended up meeting at the Boston Science Museum and doing a few of the exhibits there.  Let me say that while I love Science Museum Oklahoma this is hands down above and beyond most places! While they revamped the chick hatching area that used to be there it was still there so I got to see some baby chicks and you know I love that.  We also watched the lightening show they do there which is pretty impressive.  We grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to Bunker Hill.  In case you don't know, today is Bunker Hill day!  So they had a lot of people dressed up and were doing weapon demonstrations. Return from York, Maine and into the Revolution

So I actually couldn't post while we were in York. We stayed at Inn On the Blues and the internet didn't work so this is a bit of catching up. We loved Bar Harbor!  It was so pretty there and calming.  I am just an ocean person I think.  It restores me.  I look out and watch the waves and then watch them crash into the shore or into rocks and burst up in almost a flare of fireworks.  It reminds me that I need to breathe, slow down, and relax sometimes.  I take mental pictures from the shore, looking at the rocks and thinking how over time they are etched with a story to tell.  Remembering how strong the rocks are and how powerful the ocean is.  In our audio tour they said that in the winter the surf can cross the road, this means huge huge waves.  I would love to see it someday like that.  Our hotel had a power outage early in the morning we were due to leave.  They handled it very well!  They had staff out to help guests get...

First day of travel! Welcome to our journey.

Hi everyone, This is our third big road trip!  Its hard to believe that we did this trip several years ago.  Each trip has its own personality to me.  The purpose of this trip is to make memories with Sophia!  She graduated this year from high school and soon will be starting her own journey at OSU. If you are new to our blogs, you can look back on head east with us and head west with us on blogspot!  Basically I do my best to share our days on the road and the adventures we go off on.  We also do contests!  Everyone loves a contest right?  First off you may guess the number of miles we drive for the total of the trip.  Remember today was our first day on the road and our last day is July 1st.  You may want to wait until the end of the trip to decide your guess:)  You never know what we will do while on our trips, diversions, side trips, getting lost, and who knows what else.  Then we do some other ones which we will announc...
